Normally they re-enter on a West to East course so we hear the sonic BOOMS over Tampa. This time it re-entered from South due to hurricane Dean. I LOVE the TAKE OFFS!!! You can see them from all over FLORIDA especially the night ones. And yes, It does make you feel like a kid  |

| Re: Your Best Aviation Shot Wow you can actually hear it. That is amazing. The whole idea of flying into space and coming back is astonishing to me. I was watching it and I couldn't imagine how fast they re-entered the earth. They were going so fast it just amazes me. |

Yes! we hear the sonic booms.. normally 2 or 3 in a row ; they sound like the loudest dump trucks going over speed bumps! That's why when the Columbia was re-entering orbit and we did not hear the booms, we knew something was very very wrong. Then the images od debris over Texas on TV.. such a sad day. Well, changing the subject Kennedy Space Center has a ride in which you can feel the take-off G-forces of the shuttle. Have not been on it yet, but I'll let you know .. maybe this goes in the Roller Coaster and other thrill rides? So glad you also love the idea of travelling to space... Sorry guys, did not mean to hijack the Aviation Pictures ( no pun intended) | |
