The aircraft on display (factory number 500071) belonged to the 3rd Group of Jagdgeschwader 7 stationed in Fürstenfeldbruck in Southern Germany. This Me-262 saw combat on April 25, 1945 during which it had to intercept an Allied bomber raid. Afterwards the pilot apparently lost his orientation and mistakenly landed in Dübendorf, Switzerland. Both pilot and aircraft were interned. In 1957 the airplane was given to the Deutsches Museum by the Swiss government.
