Yeah Roberto, I've been to the Versailles - it's very, very opulent and recently it was refurbished if I'm not wrong. I was there last year and they were doing some restoration.

To dispell some myths.

Brunei isn't exactly a "poverty-stricken" country. It has standards of living close to Malaysia or the Philippines, not definitely not "down there". The King just keeps his wealth within his own kinship and does not share it with the rest of Brunei.

Isn't he one of the richest guys in the world, only after Bill Gates? If you guys think that his plane is bad taste, you probably wouldn't be too happy about his house then, hahaha... or should I say palace.

It's his brother, Prince Jefri, that is the real conspicuous consumer. He once owned a yacht named "Tits" and it's small tender craft were named "Nipple 1" and "Nipple 2" - I guess that says all that really needs to be said of Prince Jefri - he enjoys his great wealth anyway.

Bravo Prince Jefri... you deserve an article in Maxim. Hahaha, I wonder how he was raised.

HAHAH.. man some ppl are just to much.. arent those guys over there muslims??

Islam is the official religion of Brunei Darussalam as stated in the Brunei Constitution, with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan as the head of the Islamic faith in the country

Re: The Sultan of Brunei's Private Airplane

I think the problem in Brunei is not how the citizens are treated - if I recall correctly the sultan even buys each citizen a car for their 18th birthday or something - but the treatment of immigrant laborers who do pretty much all the dirty and dangerous jobs in the country.

Well there are richer people like Warren Buffert but Sultan isn't exactly broke with his fortune of approx. 17 billion dollar.

Re: The Sultan of Brunei's Private Airplane

It seems like lots of personal business jets like these always look tacky though. I can't remember seeing pictures of any that were'nt over done and ugly. Some are less 'opulent' than others but many look like this Brunei fellows.
