Re: The Architecture Thread

Yes it is a spa Lu.

Peter Zumthor is an architect I would personally love to commission to design a house for me. I would love a holiday house in a very remote place like Lake Wanaka in the South Island of New Zealand. Shania Twain has a house there.

Re: The Architecture Thread

I also want a remote house but I'd want mine to be located 2-3 hours outside Japan with a garden and surrounding nature spectacular as the house itself. I want to spend me evenings cutting Bonsai trees and eatin sushi with aluminum sticks. This house below shows the type of architecture I have in mind.

It is all made from quartzite stone which is locally sourced in Vals, where the spa is located.

At first it does appear to be quite a cold building, I agree with you Artist, but there is a richness in the solidity of the materials -- this building will stand for centuries.

Re: The Architecture Thread

Great house Lu, do you know who the architect was?

Larry Ellison is a big fan of Japanese architecture and design. Does anyone have some pictures of his amazing house?

Re: The Architecture Thread

The Architect is Chinese Rocco Yim. I haven't seen Ellisons house but I'll try to digg up some good images of it.
