Classic Architecture

Many of us have intesrest in architecture and design, since we have a Modern and contemporary architecture thread I think we also have room for the classic counterpart.

For the sake of the postings, let's call Classic as "turn of last century and before"

To start:

The iconic Flatiron building in New York an 5th and Broadway. Designed by Daniel Burnham It was completed in 1902 and is one of the oldest surviving skyscrapers

It is only 2m wide at the wedge!

It still makes for beautiful photography...

Re: Classic Architecture

Personally, I'm not overly captivated by much of today's architecture so this is a great thread for someone like myself.

I hope this counts... I present to you the city and temple of 'Angkor Wat' situated in Cambodia and built in the early 12th century. As the photos suggest, it's lies within a structure of moats, etc.

Re: Classic Architecture

Some local architecture from my place.

Annabrunn Church

Burghausen - the longest castle in Europe, right in my backyard.

The church you see ^above^ upclose.

The Stadtplatz of Burghausen. Fountains like these are common in my area. Every town has one come to think of it.

Local houses in Burghausen.

Many of them have scenes from daily life painted on them.

Arches...

Re: Classic Architecture

This house isn't far from where I live and I usually pass it when I walk my dog. I've always been fascinated with this house because it looks like something out of a fairytale story. See for yourself.
