Is a BMW Designed Home in Your Future?

Chris Bangle, Director of Group Design at BMW, is teaming up with students at Harvard University Graduate School of Design to create affordable housing concepts. The futuristic housing concepts will implement a similar "elastic skin" that formed the body of BMW's GINA Light Visionary Model.

The elastic fabric used on the car is flexible, light weight and more cost effective than conventional materials. Project members will be looking into exploiting these benefits in order to create an affordable and sustainable housing model.

The housing models will be designed for suburban neighborhoods, which were crafted in no small part by automotive culture itself. Now new technology in the automotive industry can further lend to suburban housing.
