Same here.

Nonetheless, very nice camera James, and congratulations.

Congrats on your new camera, Mirage!

I would like to buy a SLR myself, but at this moment I'm not really willing to pay in excess of 700$ for a new camera. I'm also a bit afraid that a SLR is too heavy/fragile to carry around when I am on vacation for example. My current (and first ever) point-and-shoot camera is only 3-4 years old...

Keep us informed on what you like and dislike about your new camera (in comparison to your previous P&S camera), and have fun!

Thanks El Zorro.

Yes, I'm still keeping my p&s because the DSLR is simply too heavy to carry around all the time. For small scale events or when I'm in a rush, I still use my p&s. My current p&s is only 3 years old, a DSLR is really to supplement it because taking pictures become a 'process' rather than a 'skill' in a p&s. Really love my DSLR so far, but...

Remember I mentioned something about not being able to focus? What happened was that dust accumulated on the focus sensor, hence the confusion by the camera. Just a little clean, and voila! Problem solved. But while cleaning, some mechanism holding the latch that 'clicks' everytime you take a picture was damaged. When it took pictures only half of it turns up. So now it's at the shop, and I'm painfully feeling its absence...

Can't wait to get it back, will update you guys!

I believe "handle with caution" is an appropriate attitude with such cameras..
Once I also had to return my Canon P&S camera for two weeks (software problem), and I couldn't miss it either... but it was repaired perfectly.
