Thanks again.
What Is... ISO - Digital Photography Tutorial - Photoxels
give you the ISO information, normal, low ISO will give sharper images, higher ISO can capture in low light situation, but the noise will be higher. For example in the day time with enough light, lower the ISO will give better picture.

Currently i am using K Minolta Dynax 5D for 2 years already, and i am think to move to Nikon D200 or Pentax K10D (some head engineers from Minolta were moved to Pentax before the Sony take over and Sony is doing nothing much afterward)... I like Pentax is because the build-in Anti Shock, but the nikon can give more choose of the lens (especially in 2nd hard market). hard choose to me as well !!!!

Lens: current i have 35-200, 50, 18-70... i want a 10-20 range len !!!!
I think a Wide range (12 - 50) + Normal range (18-70) + a long range will be enough (70-300)
but don't hurry to buy lens, and try to look in the 2nd hard market, since a "good" len can keep it value, you even can earn a bit when you sell them.. :>

BTW, for the entry level, forget the D40 but you can look into the D40x (but some Nikon lens cannot fit into the D40/D40x)

Re: Thinking about a DSLR camera...

I dont know much about SLRs to be totally honest. But my bro is, and I just wanted to reinforce the idea to look at some of the other makes as well (olympus and pentax etc). His latest SLR is an Olympus E400, and is thrilled with it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but most SLRs nowadays take excellent photos anyway, so take a look at some of the less common makes. You might save some money for an extra lens too!

1. Use the link ADG gave you. But essentially you will use ISO 100-400, when outside in the bright sun etc... use higher ISO the less light you have, but the higher you go the more noise there is.

2. As you know I use a Pentax K100D, with the a 12-24mm Wide angle lens, the kit lens(18-55mm) and then a telephoto (100-300mm). I am extremely happy with my camera(before I damaged it) and with the quality of the Pentax lenses.

3. My dad recently bought a K10D, and I am really impressed with it, its about the same price as the equivelent from Nikon and Canon, at about $1000.

If your bro have a Olympus, you may consider it as well, since you may share his lens to start with

THANKS A LOT FOR THIS INFO AND THE TUTORIAL LINK!

I'll need to check out the D40x then. Is it a separate model from the standard D40? Sorry for sounding like a dumbass.

Thanks.

I am however looking at DSLR camera's because taking the time to develop the film from an SLR camera is just too time consuming for my current busy lifestyle.
