What a beast. May need to upgrade soon, probablly pretty expensive though.

$599 I think...problem is you still cannot shoot RAW mode. Nice improvements over the G6 though. I am waiting for the 20D/30D replacement...all kinds of rumors when it will be released. Many hope at Photokina in a couple of weeks but I am afraid it will be Feburary at the earliest.

I am sorry, I guess I should've said something about it. To me it looks like a Leica from the top. Not identical but similiar. Have you seen the new M8? If not, go to my website and go to the photgraphy section, it is the first link or just go to dpreview. It is very nice!

This is a very good camera, the only problem I have with AF compacts is you have no real manual control over the focusing -- I like to be able to focus via a focusing ring on the lens -- I will always prefer an SLR for this reason.

The G series has used this style since it was introduced a good number of years ago. It followed the 35mm cameras of old like Leica and Pentax and others. I saw the new Leica's at dpreview...isn't Leica a late comer to the party and using Panasonics bodies? I could not go back to a P&S after using the SLR for almost 2 years now.

Well, they use Panasonic's electronics and their own optics in a more stylish camera body ....but Panasonic offer the same tech and Leica optics in a Panasonic camera body. The Leica costs more but is essentially the same camera.
