sometimes if you go haggle at your local camera shop they'll give you a discount, but whats wrong with ebay?

btw, don't buy the microdrive kind. they are really really slow when it comes to displaying the picture.

Re: Cheap Compact Flash cards?

this is an example of a microdrive:

they are usually quite a bit cheaper, but the down side is that there is moving parts (can't be dropped) and the pic review time is annoyingly slow. however there is no noticeable difference in the speed during shooting. also the upload speed is slower.

i just bought a 1gb lexar professional for $32 USD with shipping on ebay. i'll let you know how the transaction went after i receive the package.

edit: never buy refurbished electronics on ebay.

I also bought a CF recently, not that one. It is a Sandisk Ultra II 1gb

I will also let you know how it went.

depends on what equipment you are using for, say DC or DSLR, they may not require a super high speed write/read, so you can get a cheaper one. normally the speed labelled in CF is ref to reading speed, so, if for DSLR, you need to know the writing speed as well.... since some cheap CF do have different in between.

I have been using a Hitachi 2GB Microdrive for over a year and do not notice any speed deficiencies, up or down. I handle it just like a CF card and it is working like a charm.

Lexar has a 4GB CF card and if you go to B&H, OneCall or some others you can get it for $169. On pricegrabber and other sites it says on the list of sellers, Click here for lower price and it was listed at $269 but when you click it was $169. This is for their new pro card.

or

I've used both, so I can vouch for both of them.
