CAD - Computer Aided Design

I have classes in it and am currently working with ArchiCAD and know alot of basics in it. Soon we'll start working with Solidworks which I've already tried out a bit.

I love playing with it and you can do amazing things with these softwares, anyone else who's tried it or maybe works with it professionaly?

Re: CAD - Computer Aided Design

It is quite amazing.

I had classes for it for four years in high school, and loved it, and was quite good with it and its partners Inventer, and Architectual Desktop.

I went to the School of Architecture at the University, and used it a lot there as well, quite a powerful tool, unfortunately I switched majors, so hardly use it anymore these days.

Re: CAD - Computer Aided Design

We had to use Inventor a lot for our design projects and what not. Since then I haven't really used any of it. We do a lot of programming now (MATLAB) which I don't find too interesting.

Re: CAD - Computer Aided Design

I use SolidWorks every now and then for part design. It's great for handling technical stuff, but when it comes to trying to create nice flowing surfaces it becomes less great.

There's other CAD programs specifically for organic shape design - solidworks aint one of them.

Re: CAD - Computer Aided Design

Christian von Koenigsegg actually designed the entire CC Concept in Solidworks initially with Windows 95. Pretty cool.

And yeah, there are alot of CAD softwares out there and I have no clue of which is the best.

Re: CAD - Computer Aided Design

Working on this atm. We were assigned to make an eco friendly house. So I just took ours and changed it a bit. Most eco solutions are impossible to show though.

As you can see, I'm not finished yet. Anyone else with some nice creations?

Re: CAD - Computer Aided Design

I used to do CAD a long time ago...but i've stopped. Now I'm more into 3d and stuff, but haven't messed with that in about a year or two.
