Yeah, I thought that too. I was eyeing Ubuntu since a long time, but thought it'd might be complicated to make it work as I'm no geek.

Eventually I downloaded it.

And guess what? I did not experience a single real problem. Only had to re-install flash because of YT problems, and THAT IS ALL.

On Vista, I was chasing the drivers, digging in the register base to remove the useless, power-hungry programms that start automaticly, re-starting the computer every two Windows update, worrying about the life expectancy of an hard-drive that is constantly working because of the automatic de-fragging...

On Ubuntu, I installed it in no time and voilą! Free to use. Everything included from Open Office to Gimp (free Photoshop), and even Bittorrent... Everything ready to go like that, with no driver issue...

No defragging, no re-boot after an install, downloads through a dedicated tool in Ubuntu with official sources rather than somewhere on the Net, faster to make things, and even fancier to look at... I'm forgetting that my computer has a fan and don't see my computer working all the time when I'm not on it...

In the end I spend a huge lot more time trying to fix Windows than Ubuntu.

Might give Ubuntu or Android a try later this year when my RC1 expires on my netbook which is pretty much my experimentation device when it comes to Operating Systems. My main powerhouse will continue to run Vista.
