Re: My computer is tying to kill me!

Well I figured this would happen too . Rest assured I do own Windows machines too, both at home and in the office.

You see, what most windows users apparently fail to see (especially ones that do not like using a different OS) is that a computer is but a very sophisticated tool. And the easiest and more reliable the tool is the better and faster you get your job done. It's no coincidence that Mac's been gaining a renewed following after they 'dumped' the old OS (probably the one you experienced and one I never wasted a penny on). The old ones were as temperamental as windows .

I only suggested it since Va Va Voom invited the suggestion to get a new computer. Just makes $$$ sense to do this. Also, I'm aware that the market share is but 10-15% of the entire market which gives you a nice 'exclusivity' and virus free environment... this of course will not be the case if they keep gaining market share, I hope it never happens, they will also cease to be exclusive

As for re-installing windows, I have experienced BSOD countless times, my last one due to viruses on Windows XP however, I said on my post 'spammy BSOD' not 'BSOD' because in most cases the blue screen of death does not happen often and you can run it for prolonged periods of time without getting them crashed. IF you get this often like Va Va Voom mentions then you will have no guarantees it will happen again after you spend half days or entire days of your life re-installing the sucker.

Re: My computer is tying to kill me!

Thanks everyone for the help!
I've started backing up everything on my computer ready for the re-installment

As for the mac, I think I'm definitely going to get one when my current computer dies, might see into a Mac Mini just for Internet use and Photoshop. But is there a substitute to "Windows Live Messanger" , because I use that quite a lot

Yeh you can get Messenger for Mac. I'm not a big Mac fan myself - Windows just needs a little extra TLC.

Let's hope your re-install works - it should do!

Hey James!

I was worried about you! Well, about your computer and the graveness of the blue screen. Glad it came back. Do safeguard everything you can.

Computer malfunctions can be so crippling these days!

Re: My computer is tying to kill me!

Bad news on the computer James. I must be a lucky Windows user but I have never had a problem. Not one. I do however, upgrade my laptop every 6 months as part of my salary so I guess having a fresh system and OS regularly is helpful. I'm looking forward to Windows 7. If you're after a new laptop James I can recommend a Sony Vaio VGNZ27GNX. It's a 13.1 inch laptop - very portable and extremely usable.

I must say that for my job using a Macbook is out of the question as all of the medical software I run is Windows dependent I I'm not at all interested in running a Macbook in bootcamp Vista all the time.
