Computer Crashed - need some advice

Bought a video grabber today, to burn my VHS on dvd.
installed the device, restarted the pc ... BAM ... blue screen restarts again and again and...
anyway
i started now with ubuntu 7 to back up my stuff on a hard disc
but i also bought several titels on itunes (stuff with drm)
how can i use those on another pc ?

second
i may know some stuff about pcs, but i'm no super duper expert
i suspect that the programm smashed my registry, is there a way to delet the entries to make it work as usual ?

googled some stuff about itunes migration
but some infos just seem to easy to be true, it would be great if someone could share experiences cause i don't want to lose anything

so is it possible to simply "cut and paste" my old iTunes folder (which includes the songs and XML file) onto a new one ?

This looks like your video card may not be 100% compatible with your video grabber software... I would check for driver updates; or, if the video grabber software is too demanding on your CPU and/or you don't have enough RAM, you may want to make sure you quit all other programs before running it...

Best IMO would be to have a network hard-drive to store all of your itunes files, then you can call your files remotely from any computer in your local network, be it any Linux flavor, like Ubuntu, a Mac, Windows, etc.

I would steer away from editing your Windows registries unless you know exactly what you are doing...

I have removed the XML files on several occasions, and after that re-imported all files back in without a problem (and as easy as 'drag and drop' ).
The best solution I have found so far has been to keep the itunes files in a networked hard drive. I currently use this to store all, then pick what I want from it on each of the networked computers, plus an AppleTV that I use (24/7) for distributed audio throughout the house.
The only downside to this config is that depending on the speed of the network and type of storage you may have, uploading itunes may take a few more secs per song than if you are storing them locally in your computer.. but the benefits far outweigh this

hey
my computer won't start again
it says some like ...
Quote:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt

"WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/CONFIG/SYSTEM".
i started with ubuntu and tried to copy my files first, it worked until an hour - then ubuntu started again until it stopped to boot.(several times)
anyway - so i just tried to repair windows without backing up
so i inserted the windows cd, it loaded the repair menu, but guess what happened - it crashed with a blue screen
this can only mean hardware issues ?

i guess its busted
the blue screen error message said something like usb?.sys was the problem for the crash
so i disconnected every extra hardware(floppy, extra harddrive, usb board)
it worked
but windows started until the boot screen - very slowly
the next blue screen some hex code with nearly all 0 showed up
now i disconnected the main harddrive and connected it with a usb board - works perfectly with my laptop
so i guess i need a new pc

coolraoul will become famous soon enough
Try to change the RAM memory first. A screwed RAM might cause this problem.
