The Caffeine Thread

It is with great regret I must announce the death of our Francis Francis X1 espresso machine

The X1 was designed by Italian architect Luca Trazzi's and is his first and most famous espresso machine.
Commissioned in early 2002, the machine properly caffeinated our household and guests each morning, afternoon and evening since, and has faithfully produced demitasse after demitasse without hesitation. Although it’s beauty remains, the 17 Bars of pressure are gone..

The Francis-Francis is succeed by an emergency stovetop Bialetti Moka (a life saver) and a Saeco Incanto Rondo ( S-classe).

Whoa! Finally, lady!

We're glad to see you posting here...

I'm a coffee addict myself, but i only drink this one:

Half a mug of hot water and rest is the milk from fridge. 2 of those from 8am to 9am and i'm ready to work. Without it? No way, i'm unable to work.

Cool Re: The Caffeine Thread

Love triple espresso's. Dont get them as often as i like, sticking to caramel latte's at the moment, but with a quick search here is some espresso info on the subject.

Espresso Machines

Quality espresso machines enable you to brew authentic Italian espresso and prepare delicious cappuccino and latte drinks right in your home or office with ease. All of our espresso machines utilize a powerful pump to force hot water under pressure through finely ground coffee for thick, rich espresso extraction. In addition, each model features a steam wand or automatic frother to steam milk like the pros for making cappuccino and latte drinks.

Espresso Machine Overview by Type:
Manual Lever Espresso Machines [click here to view models]
These Italian espresso machines offer old world style and craftsmanship with the ability to brew exquisite espresso; however, they do require the most skill to operate and are only recommended for the hands-on espresso purist who is willing to experiment. Pump pressure is developed by manually pulling the lever.Semi-Automatic (Pump) Espresso Machines [click here to view models]
The most common type of machine for home use and simple to operate, featuring an electric brewing pump which is manually turned on and off by the user. Some experimentation is still required to achieve a perfect espresso; however, the main variables are limited to coffee bean quality, grind fineness and tamp pressure.Automatic (Pump) Espresso Machines [click here to view models]
Essentially the same as semi-automatic units with the added convenience of an electronic flow sensor which turn off the pump once the selected brew volume is reached.Super-Automatic Espresso Machines [click here to view models]
Super-automatic espresso makers are sophisticated machines that go from bean to cup at the touch of a button. They have built-in grinders and brewing mechanisms that automatically grind the coffee, fill and tamp the filter basket, brew a pre-determined volume of espresso then dump the used coffee grounds in an internal waste container. These machines also feature steam wands or automatic frothers to steam milk for making cappuccino or latte.Espresso Capsule Machines [click here to view models]
Capsule machines are the ultimate in convenience and ideally suited for offices, restaurants and other food service operation as well as in the home. Brewing a thick, rich espresso is as simple as placing capsule pre-filled with ground coffee into the machine and pressing a button and a steam wand is provided for making cappuccino or latte. Our LavAzza Espresso Point Italian capsule machines are commercial grade and have been distributed throughout Europe and the United States for many years.Commercial Espresso Machines [click here to view models]
We feature premium, single brew group Pasquini Livia semi-automatic machines and LavAzza Espresso Point capsule machines designed for light-medium duty commercial applications such as smaller coffee shops, restaurants, churches, offices and other businesses that serve espresso, cappuccino and latte beverages as a primary or side service. These Italian espresso machines feature large built-in water reservoirs (no plumbing required) and they plug into a standard 120V electric outlet (no special electrical requirements). Each is also perfect suited as a high-end home espresso machine.

Re: The Caffeine Thread

Thanks guys, keep in mind although I don't post I get to read a lot since NSL is on almost all the time.

Ok back to caffeine ... I'm still missing the Francis but the new one is pretty cool.

We were between a Bosch, Gaggia, La Pavoni and this one. Ultimately, it came down to a space/design issue.

The Saeco is a superautomatic, all we do is put coffee beans and water, the 'monolith' grinds, shoots the water and that's it!

It has a dial for setting the amout of water.. from NSL's ristreto ( 8 gr of coffee, 2 Oz water ) to Car Diva's classic doubleshot ( 4.5 Oz), to the 'wuzzy' Cafe Americano ( 10 Oz) for our guests.

It's good to see we are not the only caffeine addicts here; I guess many get their fix through sodas and enery/power drinks ( Red Bull and such).

Here's a picture of our new Saeco (Incanto Rondo S-class)

Re: The Caffeine Thread

How I get my caffeine:

Cheaper than pretty much every energy drink out there, at $1.25 a pack for the equivelent of 6cups of coffee, and it tastes and smells like normal gum.
