![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Getting Drunk I did it folks. Yesterday, I got drunk for the first time ever. For those of you who don't know me too well, I'll keep it short and simple: I had never been drunk in my entire life. Alcohol is something I have always stayed away from... Here's the story (copied from my personal blog) In the meantime, our Landlord had dropped by our house and being the good chap he is, decide dropped off some rather expensive "Jackson-Triggs" Red wine as a Christmas present. I was surprised too, but then I guess it's deserved considering how expensive the rent is... Lol! And suddenly, a previous blog post that I made about trying alcohol for the first time popped into my mind. And had you recall, I had said that If I was going to try it out, I'd most certainly do it alone. At that point, it was my decision. Having never been drunk ever before, it was now or never. And I did it... The first time ever. I poured a small glass of wine (12.5% alcohol) and drank it. Mind you, the fact that it was undeniably bitter (and in my mind, disgusting) meant that it took some 30 minutes to drink half a glass of wine. Though, within 10 minutes, I could certainly feel the effects. I had this strange headache behind what was best described as my eyes. At first, I felt real lazy and sleepy, but as my body adjusted I started to feel awfully loose. And though I drank very little, it was not only enough to make me dizzy, but dampen my reactions, distort my sense of balance (was tripping around for a while) and latch a seemingly endless smile on my face. I had also noticed that I was slurring my words and hanging onto things like a monkey. The scariest thing about this was the fact that I truly hadn't that much wine. And when I woke up this morning, I noticed that I had (and still have) a very strange headache. Was it fun? For a little while perhaps, but it's definitely not something that I'd like to do often. Congratulations to me? Lol. Last edited by Bruce; 12-17-2007 at 12:42 PM. |

I've never had an headache, when I drunk wine. ![]() Should I congrat you - YES!! Congratulations Bruce, for being the first time drunken - and presumable the last time for the next two years!! I hate those days, after a night with to much alcohol... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Getting Drunk LOL Congratulations, Bruce! ![]() ![]() ![]() Personally I seldomly have hangover but the worst head ache I've ever had was when I drank too much red wine. I would say that wine is best enjoyed with a good meal and great friends. ![]() BTW I think you got drunk quite easily because your body is not used to alcohol. Next time you probably won't feel it that intensively. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Getting Drunk Congratulations, I guess ![]() It's amazing that you got a hangover from such little wine. A glass of wine barely affects me and I've never had a hangover in my life so it is a bit hard to relate but it does seem like you are very sensitive. If you did it again it would most likely go a bit smoother. To be safe, drink a glass of water between every glass of wine or whatever it is you're drinking |

Funny enough, my father says he always get headaches after red wine (even from the smallest of amounts). Perhaps it's genetic trait. ![]() Thankfully, I didn't drink enough to a get a real hang over. Thanks Mikael. Yes, I imagine you're correct about wine being best enjoyed with a good meal and great friends. Last edited by Bruce; 12-18-2007 at 07:22 PM. Reason: Spelling!

Mine was merely a bad headache. No throwing up, etc. I also failed to mention that I did in fact mix the wine with some water (as you had suggested a while back ). |

![]() Ended up at the hospital once with 3.1‰. A slight tummy ache the day after was everything. And I've gotten so drunk that I've passed out and even barfed a few times but I've still never had a hangover. Rather weird actually but I have friends who also don't get hangovers so I guess I'm not alone at it. Sounds like you were cautious and approached alcohol for the first time with great care and respect for the drink, unlike alot of young people
