Lets hope that it doesn't. I am sure that our governments are working hard on not having it spread. NOT! | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Bird Flu Update I have been keeping up with this, like I have mentioned before and am going to post some updates for those of you who are concerned. For those of you who reside in the United States please refer to www.cdc.gov which will give you more information. In addition to this website there is www.pandemicflu.gov which has been set up by the federal government to aid federal, state, local and individuals for the preparations that are necessary for this Bird Flu. On March 13th 2005 the CDC released this report: http://www.pandemicflu.gov/plan/pdf/panflu20060313.pdf Althought there are not confirmed cases that the Avian H5N1 virus has mutated into a different strain which would be the human-to-human strain, scientists believe that it is possible and it may happen. In an article that I read today it said that the chances of the aforementioned happening are 50% http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/AvianFlu/story?id=1724801 How would you know if you had the Avian Flu? Check here: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/AvianFl...1711962&page=1 This is very interesting for me and scary at the same time. I think this is a serious issue and some would argue that it is natures way of controlling the population. Whatever it is we need to be ready. The virus can mutate in a couple of months, a year, or maybe never. We don't know at this moment. Please don't guide yourself by everything I have said, so go ahead and check the sources that I have posted. Here is a link to the President's strategy to fight this virus: http://www.whitehouse.gov/homeland/p...influenza.html Obviously he initiated this November 1, 2005. A little bit to late if you ask me. Update March 15th: http://www.interfax.ru/e/B/0/28.html?id_issue=11478562 Interesting huh? I hope that this information helps those that dont know about this or want to learn more. Update March 17th. 11,000 turkeys die in Israel http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satelli...cle%2FShowFull http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4816586.stm -Michael Last edited by Michael; 03-17-2006 at 08:36 AM. |
