Re: Coolest home ever?

Amazing view. Southern France or Italy is hands down of the top 5 places to own a house.

And Mirage77, That place is gorgeous all the best and hopefully your interiors are as stunning as the exteriors keep us updated on that front too and do try keep taking pictures of work in progress and what kind of a structure do you build in Singapore? Concrete or Metal?

Yeah, Sottsass uses a lot of bright colours .....BTW he has been a frequent visitor to India over many years (he is 90 years old) and has has a great love for your country.

Great

Re: Coolest home ever?

The most expensive house in the world.

This is the new apartment building in Knightsbridge, London that is now officially the most expensive residence in the world after Sheikh Hamad, the foreign minister of Qatar, paid £100 million (approx US$200 million) for a 20,000 square foot (approx 7000 square metres) penthouse apartment in it.

But that house is in legal trouble for some reason and the goverment is deeming that particular transaction illegal as it belonged to some non profit organisation or something like that. But then this is the guy that kind of owns India so he will get his way. Sad I know but thats how things work here and maybe in other parts of the world too...

Anyways coming back to architecture, I live in a city that was famous for architecture in the past and not to mention Mahatma Gandhi's ashram is here. Below are few buildings which are quite nice and also well known and done by famous Architects of the past but will live in our hearts forever..

1. I.I.M Ahmedabad by Louis Kahn (1963)

Institute of Public Administration - Louis I. Kahn - Great Buildings Online
2. Fabric Museum by Le Corbusier 1953-57

Museum at Ahmedabad - Le Corbusier - Great Buildings Online
3. Mr B.B.Doshi's house by Balakrishna Doshi (Self) 1979-81.

Sangath - Balkrishna Doshi - Great Buildings Online
4. Shodhan house by Le Corbusier (1956) This was a rich family here

Shodan House - Le Corbusier - Great Buildings Online

Sorry if the images are large and I do hope it's ok to post links / images from other websites if this is beyond the rules here do let me know.

I feel some of these buildings use materials which are as close to natural as you can get without losing the geometric shapes and they also work very well as insulation against heat in Ahmedabad. But today this city is getting ruined with all new glass buildings without a specific colour / shape and just new builders making money out of fooling the growing population majority of whom have hardly had a house with a concrete roof

Regards/-

Btw. May I ask how many here are Interior designers / Architects or are big time into one of them?

I already said I'm amazed how you can express so many things by structuring and building shapes...I see you're also interested in architecture/design...
Great buildings Mr. Link. Le Corbusier was very brilliant.

Welcome to Sentosa Island in Singapore, the new home for the rich and famous.

This is a view of one of the inner man-made rivers.

This is a view from the house below.

Unobstructed seaview. This house is going for SDG13 million (about USD6 million). It used to be SGD6 million before, it shows how property prices have risen in the past year.

Here is a very nicely decorated living room, probably one of my favorites now even thought the sofas seem to hard and sterile for my taste. If i was wealthy I would love to have something very similar but as a reading room instead.
