I don't think there is anyone comparable to Jay. He is a true baller. That dude builds his own rides. He doesn't just sit there and drink a glass of wine while looking at his cars, he goes out there and drives them. I didn't say Peter was a snob. I said I hate people who buy stuff and never use it and justify every dollar they waste as "Art".

I understand all the stuff you guys are telling me but what I'm trying to say is this: I come from a background where money isn't something you waste. So once again, to buy something that you can't use is a waste of money. You can eat food, drive cars, fly in planes, sail on yachts, drink wine, etc. But what the F__K are you going to do with a $100million dollar Picasso? Stare at it? That is $100 million you could've given to charity and fed hundreds of thousands of people...no instead rich people need to feel good about themselves and indulge in something useless to make themselves feel good. That is the epitome of selfishness.

If I'm ever rich enough to buy a ferrari, I will call my local elementary schools and invite them for a day at the race track. I will give those kids ride in my car. Not because I want to show off, but I want to give those kids hope that one day they can get there too. Now that is some ballin' sh!t, not buying useless pieces of junk.

Yeah, alright. That's understandable

However, there is one thing I cannot agree on and this is that..

To those who purchase expensive art - whether than be $100 million Picasson and a $20,000 Sybil Andrews piece - they aren't viewed as do not as a waste of money. To them, it's anything but useless; it's something that they take great passion in. That same person could see automobiles as something which is a great waste of money.

On the otherhand, there are people like myself (and Rob )who have an appreciation for both autmobiles and art. Neither such item is useless in my opinion. Would I ever buy a million dollar painting? No I wouldn't, but my point is you like what you like.

Not all who purchase expensive art (or anything that can "merely" be stared at) are selfish my friend.

Re: Baller Stuff

It's nothing special at all, but in my opinion this was the best deal that Audi does in the last year - a Bang & Olufsen Sound system for the A8!

I visited an Audi center for used cars on Monday! They have so many great cars there, including one of my favourites right now: An Audi A8L 4.2 TDI in night blue with Amaretto/blue comfort-leather seats! OMG, this car was just great - it also has the B&O system and I really have to say, I'm absolutely impressed by this soundsystem! (Nevertheless the Logic7 system in the S-Class sounds also great)! The music was so clear and undistorted and the effect with the tweeters is amazing.

The dealer also has a area were you can get Espresso and such stuff - there was a B&O system installed, too! They only used two speakers (BeoLab 3), that hang from the ceiling. They were linked with the BeoSound 3200.
The two speakers fill the whole area with music - it wasn't importunate, but it was imressive how clear the music was.

BeoSound 3200

BeoLab 3

Oh Ramen... you must understand that people have the right to do whatever they wish with their own money in this country at least!

They (also) have the right to be as smart or as foolish as they like! It's not what is apparent to your (or my) eyes that counts for them, but the satisfaction of getting an article ( wine, shoes, skull with diamonds) that means and what feelings of satisfaction it gives.

Liberty my dear.. liberty.

As to your intentions with the school kids, that's great!

Just don't use the F-word and try not to pile more than 3 at a time in your Ferrari ( I assume you'll get a 4-seater for this, a two seater will take bloody ages)

Re: Baller Stuff

How about a great vacation?

Rent your own Island in the Bahamas for a mere US$ 325,000 a week!

Musha Cay ( 150 acres) is available

"Musha Cay, Bahamas
The island features palm trees, exotic flowers and tropical vegetation, and its white sand beaches border on the crystal clear turquoise waters of the Caribbean.
A live-in staff of 30, including a world-class chef,
look after the needs of up to 20 guests, with accommodations provided in 5 unique English Colonial-style villas. Each villa has large mahogany decks, 4-poster beds in the master bedrooms, and access to its own private beach. "

"Upon arrival at the Mosstown airport on Great Exuma, the island's 8-passenger plane picks up guests and transports them to Musha Cay. Alternatively, guests can arrive in their own private plane, landing at a private 2000 foot (610 metre) airstrip on an adjacent island. For those with a fear of flying, Musha Cay's dock can accommodate ships up to 200 feet (61 metres) in length.

"Some of the amenities available to guests include a free-form pool, tennis court, indoor/outdoor beachfront bars, a bathhouse and massage room at the beach, 2.5 miles (4 km) of jogging paths, the use of golf carts and bicycles, and the use of the conference centre. The hub of island life is The Landings, providing central dining, satellite TV, lounge, meeting area, and a billiard room overlooking the ocean. Activities on Musha Cay include snorkelling, jet skiing, fishing, water skiing, windsurfing, sailing and tennis."

Ohh such an ugly place!

I'll just put it this way. Anything that you cannot physically use or choose not to use is Useless...you see, it's in the word: Use-less. Simple. I'm not knocking on art, I went to art school for god sakes. Art is meant to be admired, but it is when someone spends millions or even thousands on an art that I believe is a waste of money. Buying a million dollar painting isn't Ballin' and neither is buying an enzo and never using it. Ballin' is when you have the money not just to buy but use what you bought. In essence, a car is just a well shaped piece of metal if it's not in motion.

But lets just agree to disagree.
