![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() NEW YORK, April 7 Martell Cognac, the oldest and one of the most revered of the major Cognac houses, announces the release of L'Or de Jean Martell, the culmination of the house style, the product of the unique art of Cognac and the result of the painstaking care and creation of many successive generations of Martell cellar masters. Martell L'Or de Jean Martell is the epitome of Martell expertise: a double distillation of the clearest eau-de-vie, a sophisticated combination of the four finest growths -- Grand Champagne, Petite Champagne, Fins Bois and Borderies -- and a lengthy maturation in fine-grain oak barrels. "L'Or de Jean Martell is truly the ultimate expression of the House of Martell and a testament to Jean Martell whose founding principles are based on the pursuit of perfection," noted Larry Neuringer, Brand Director of Martell, Pernod Ricard USA. "Martell Cognac has long been linked with the sense of French refinement, and every bottle embodies the experience of unrivalled craftsmen: cellar masters, growers, distillers and coopers all who have handed down their expertise from generation to generation. It is the skill and vision of these craftsmen that has made the House of Martell an icon of French excellence and resulted in the presentation of L'Or de Jean Martell, the ultimate statement of luxury." The Cognac owes its rich and complex character to the aged eau-de-vie from Borderies -- the smallest and most exclusive growing region in Cognac. As the spirit matures, the candied-fruit notes offset the power and depth of the spirit's Grand Champagne eau-de-vie. L'Or, the culmination of Martell's nearly three hundred year quest for perfection, is a blending of several hundred eau-de-vie, some of which have aged for more than a century like hidden treasures deep in the house's cellars. These secret cellars, rechristened the "Chai Jean Martell" or Jean Martell Cellars, hold exceptionally rare spirits, some dating back to 1830. It is from here, to which only a chosen few have access, that many of the eau-de-vie for L'Or de Jean Martell are drawn. The liquid has an intense amber color with hints of shimmering mahogany. The nose holds extraordinarily complex aromas of fruited candy, sweet spices and gingerbread created by the unique blend of Borderies and Grand Champagne growths. On the palate, the attack is silky smooth and subtle moving towards the richer more substantial flavors of orange peel, prune and gingerbread. The finish is beautifully long and elegant. This exquisite Cognac is encased in a tear drop shaped decanter made of Cristal de Sevres* -- the finest crystal. Each individual decanter is hand-blown using time-honored skills that combine technical mastery with respect for the delicate material to create curves of elegance that are then embellished with gilded garlands, a subtle allusion to the elegant French classical style. Neuringer concluded, "L'Or de Jean Martell is a fitting testament to Jean Martell himself. His insistence on perfection and his driving passion lead Martell to creating one of the most revered and enduring luxury goods companies in all of France. That same enthusiasm and attention to quality has been passed from generation to generation creating Cognacs that have, throughout history, been sought after by royalty and heads of state around the world and that uphold the name that sets standards for others in the field." Martell L'Or de Jean Martell will be available in the United States in very limited quantity (120 bottles) beginning in April 2009. This highly sought after Cognac will carry a suggested retail price of $3,600 per bottle. House of Martell(R) Presents Culmination of House Style |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well lets kick start it again ![]() ![]() I don’t know if the Hollywood ejection sequence from Behind Enemy Lines from some “F” jet made you jump off your seat, but I did. The shock value and the heightened experience of the moment stayed there for a while until all the dreams came crashing to dust for reasons only the selection center knows. However, you have to start somewhere. If you can afford it at $225,000, drive the Phantom Werks bar to your living room. This handcrafted Phantom Werks bar is constructed using original U.S. military aircraft components that were once used in the mighty McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom Jets. ...................... ![]() A fireplace at this time of the year might not sound exciting, but this hanging Babylon ethanol fireplace from Stephane Perruchon puts the focus back on “Home is where the hearth is.” This eco-friendly fireplace boasts a captivating design with a suspended burner that is supported with the structure by a small steel cable. The fireplace is available in different shapes (rectangular, square, cylindrical, pyramidal, hexagonal ...) to suit your tastes. And, you can even choose to get the burner installed horizontally or vertically. No word is available on whether this campfire fireplace concept has already hit the market or will be available soon, but this one sure will complement your floating bed perfectly, if you own one. And, even if you don’t, this sure deserves a place in your elite household. .................. ![]() Bending to the luscious taste coupled with huge online campaign under the group “Bring back Cadbury’s Wispa Gold,” Cadbury has revitalized the Wispa Gold to enter the record books as the most expensive chocolate bar in the world. Wrapped in edible gold leaf and sheathed in a gold leaf wrapper, the special edition (55p) of the yummy chocolate will be delivered by none other than Tony Hadley, the singer with Spandau Ballet whose biggest hit was “Gold,” at Selfridges in London. Priced at £961.48 ($1,628), the new Wispa Gold may be a mouth-watering treat for kids, but it will definitely turn out to be an eye-watering purchase for the parents as well. ................. ![]() For the rich New York baseball fans who take their fan status a bit too seriously, Austrian Swarovski has teamed up with Major League Baseball to create a crystallized motorcycle helmet in honor of the New York Yankees. The luxury helmet in black features the legendary stamped team logo on front, and the Yankees inscription on the back, all adorned with black Swarovski crystals. The helmet is available in a limited edition through Galeries Lafayette Homme, and adorns a price tag of $347.
