Exquisite clothes for very rich women. They are often modeled with eccentric accessories and make-up for maximum drama. Of course, many of these dresses are never ordered by clients and so only the prototypes exist. If 5 of a particular design is ordered, that is considered to be a big seller -- Haute couture is not very profitable for the fashion houses in spite of the outrageous prices charged -- they rely on the standard ready-to-wear lines, which they sell in their boutiques as well as up-market department stores, to make the money ....it's the prestige of offering haute couture that keeps it alive.
Wow. Those truly are works of art.

The Loris Azzaro dresses I planned on posting pale in comparsion. Lol

I do not think they are 'baller' enough for this thread...

Re: Baller Stuff

Here are a couple of beauties that can be enjoyed by both genders:

Bordeaux and Sauternes,

The most famous ( with VERY good reason) is Chateau Latour and Chateau d'Yquem. The 1900 vintages fetched US$ 335,000 and US$ 44,000 per 750mL bottle in 2002. I wonder... how much is each drop?
Cheers!

They don't really drink them, just keep the wines as a rare objects, a museum piece.

OK ... and how about a US$1000 dollar sundae?

It's from NY's Serendipity restaurant :

"Made with "5 scoops of the richest Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla and covered in 23K edible gold leaf, the sundae is drizzled with the world's most expensive chocolate, Amedei Porceleana, and covered with chunks of rare Chuao chocolate, which is from cocoa beans harvested by the Caribbean Sea on Venezuela's coast. The masterpiece is suffused with exotic candied fruits from Paris, gold dragets, truffles and Marzipan Cherries. It is topped with a tiny glass bowl of Grand Passion Caviar, an exclusive dessert caviar, made of salt-free American Golden caviar, known for its sparkling golden color. It's sweetened and infused with fresh passion fruit, orange and Armagnac. The sundae is served in a baccarat Harcourt crystal goblet with an 18K gold spoon to partake in the indulgence served with a petite mother of pearl spoon and topped with a gilded sugar flower by Ron Ben-Israel."

Here's the menu from the restaurant! ( scroll down to bottom to see the sundae) http://www.serendipity3.com/food.htm

If you're not going to drink the wine, than why buy it? That's my issue with rich people, they buy stuff but they never use it. WT-F is the point of buying a expensive wine just so you can sit there stare at it? retarded.

At least that Sundae was meant to be eaten and isn't ridiculously expensive as those wines.

Re: Baller Stuff

Hey Artist, let me know the next time you are in NY, we'll stop by Serendipity and split a sundae

And now, more edible goodies: saffron

at around US$45 an ounce it's the world's most expensive spice ( by weight)

but What a bargain compared to the other stuff.

Saffron is the red-orange stigmas of the crocus flower. (see below)

1 oz is enough to prepare rissotto for 4, or a small batch of madeleins.

Ok now I'm hungry!
