Video from Apple:

Don't know what to think of it. Very tempting now to dump T-Mobile and join AT&T.

The only disappointment so far is that it looks the same as the 3G.

Frankly I find is unimaginative and rather generic considering that it bare the same design and look as the iPhone that was launched 2 years ago. Sure Apple's creative design department could have come up with ways of differentiating it from the iphone's we've seen so far. Perhaps an aluminium unibody look wouldn't have been so bad?

I had high hopes for this latest revision but it hasn't changed things. If you've fancied the iPhone for a while then you'll buy it and if you don't like the iPhone then you won't care. Many of the applications that are out are very innovative and the iPhone is a powerful platform but the thought that the current design will stand for another 12 months completely bore me. And the video capabilities as well as voice control are nothing to brag about given that almost every phone have had those capabilities since 5-10 years back.

Ready to buy a new phone I'll probably sit back and wait for HTC's new Android phones that sound incredibly promising, the only thing that keeps me interested in the iPhone is the support it currently has from hundreds of other companies. But at far as interest goes, it's gone from a cool phone to a generic and impersonal one. Apple needs to bring on some form of personalisation.

By looking the same though, they allow compatibility with all the hundreds of previous accessories, which is a huge plus for previous owners that are looking to upgrade.

As for the video, video capture itself may be old, but I have never seen a phone with the video editing capability as seen on the iPhone.

To be honest the main reason for me to buy is its just plain seemless ease of use, the apps, and since I am a mac user the flawless integration with my computer.

The only other phone I am even considering is the Palm Pre...

I guess apple are so far ahead with this damn thing..that they dont even need to redesign it..
The UI is light years ahead still..
So i guess they are milking the cow..
Rest assured that they will come with somethign spectacular when they need to..

PS
On the other hand..they could have given it a better camera.. when the competitions is sporting 12megapixels..

I guess if you wanted to be somewhat different or exclusive and still get the iPhone, you could always get the white one.... sales are probably less than 5% of all iPhones worldwide so you won't see the next guy sporting the same phone you have plus it looks great, it is more forgiving on scratches, fingerprints, etc, and you get the classic Apple white enamel look... it also shows you didn't buy the low end model unlike sporting a 32Gb black that looks 'exactly' like the popular 99 bucks 8Gb.

I've also heard and read rumors about a new compact iPhone Nano, if they are to release this, I guess it'll be sometime after they begin selling the new G3S.

My step-dad recently swapped his 8gb N95 due to sortware problem for an i-phone.

He is happy with it because is only uses it for work, but today I way comparing my Nokia 5800 to the i-phone and the Nokia is literally a smaller, more practical version of the i-Phone.

That's true, the white one is a bit more rare but still some customisation with skins and such wouldn't hurt.

Yes iPhone Nano rumors were floating high some months ago but I don't think such a phone will happen anytime soon. Instead, Apple have chosen to downgrade the 3G to a "cheap" $99 price point while the latest model the 3GS is sold at the "full" price of $199. It's a rather cost effective move given that the hardware in the 3G is two years old and has paid its dues. Right now it's serves as a guard putting competitors out of balance. Simple salvaging we've seen VAG do with the B7 Audi which is now being sold as a SEAT car.

I would be willing to by the 3G if Apple drops the unlocked price or the overly expensive price phones plans.

True... in normal situations Apple has been doing pc lifecycles similar to high end german car manufactures where they have all-new model releases every 7 years or so, with a face lift halfway, although more like every 2-3 years
I also thought the all-new one was due now since the first wave of customers are just ending their 2 year contracts, just in time for a replacement... guess not.
Maybe they are playing it more conservative due to the present market and/or putting more efforts onto the all-new iPhone Nano or the rumored compact tablet to be released for the Holidays?...

Phone plans over here are more expensive for the iPhone because it is mandatory that you add the data plan, unlike i.e. a BlackBerry where you can have it without the data plan (although it defeats its purpose without it..). So that means an extra 30-40 bucks a month added to whatever plan you sign up for.

You have to pay for unlocking them?? Hmm, didn't know that.

One thing I was looking forward was tethering capabilities, and the 3Gs now has it! but we still can't 'use it' over here since the one and only carrier we have for the iPhone is obviously afraid of tons of customers using it at the same time.
