Album Ratings!

I thought this would be a kick ass idea.

I'll be following Choleric's inital idea of using a total rating mark out of 10 and a minimal descripition. See Choleric's awesome movie thread for reference.

So, please continue on! Old albums, new albums - whatever!

Re: Album Ratings!

All nineteen Rush albums.. don't think I won't do it

Rush - 'Snakes & Arrows' - 2007
Innovative, amazing and a proper comeback after a few medicore records
10/10

Rush - 'Moving Pictures' - 1981
Probably my favourite album of all time. Amazing
10/10

Frozen Ghost - 'A Nice Place To Visit' - 1987
Definitely has some great songs, but not enough to make it a classic. Also worth mentioning is that some of the songs are a reputious.
7/10

Neil Young - 'Live At Massey Hall, 1971' - 2006
I'm absolutely stunned they've been to attain such sound quality from a '71 recording!
10/10

Alanis Morissette -'Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie' - 1998
People often talk about Alanis' first album (Jagged Little Pill) as her best, but I could not disagree more. The above record took her to a new level!
9/10

Re: Album Ratings!

Eyy, I was thinking of making exactly the same thread as soon as I got home from Italy! Anyway...

Breaking Benjamin - Phobia 2006 10/10
Creative, excellent, great lyrics, perfectly composed music. And every single track on this album is a potential favourite. If you like rock, take a listen. This is rock as it should be.

Lol, sorry!

Rush - 'Hold Your Fire' - 1987
A creative piece of work! Also includes some of the finest bass guitar work ever recorded
9/10

Tom Cochrane - 'Mad Mad World' - 1991
The finest recording Cochrane has ever produced. While Nitty, gritty and hard edged, it's also amazingly uplifiting. Can't explain, but..
10/10

Tom Cochrane - 'No Stranger' - 2006
The first Cochrane record I've actually been dissapointed with. Weak songs toppled by what is most likely the worst sound production - ever
5/10

Pink Floyd - 'The Wall' - 1979
It's The Wall and that equals kick ass
10/10

U2 - 'Joshua Tree' - 1987
Can't give it anything other than..
10/10

Re: Album Ratings!

Rush - 'Power Windows' - 1985
One of the finest quality recorded tracks ever produced. As an addition, it features some of the best bass guitar work ever recorded. Awesome songs too!
10/10

Dire Straits (self titled) - 1979
Ahh..I always find it surprising to hear that 'Sultans of Swing' wasn't a big hit until it was re-released. That's right - it was re-released because it wasn't received very well the first time around.

Anyways, while SOS is a fantastic song, the self titled album has much more to offer than that particular hit: 'Down to the Waterline', 'The Gallery', 'Southbound Again', etc are all superb!
9/10 (could be a 10, can't decide)

Tom Cochrane - 'Victory Day' - 1988
To keep it short and simple: excellent
9/10

Neil Young - 'Heart of Gold' - 1974
A true classic.
9/10

Neil Young - 'Living With War' - 2006
Good effort, but some of the songs are not my style.
7/10

Re: Album Ratings!

Geddy Lee - 'My Favourite Headache' - 2001
A very impressive solo debut. As a Rush fan, I'm more than proud with the final result.
10/10

Tom Cochrane & Red Rider (Self Titled) - 1986
Great album
8/10

Loreena McKennitt - 'The Book of Secrets' - 1995
Perfection
10/10

Jethro Tull - "Thick As A Brick' - 1971
I nominated TAAB as the best song ever... So yeah
10/10

The Fixx - 'Reach the Beach' - 1983
Off-beat and unqiue. The Fixx is undoubtedly the king of synthesizers
9/10

Talking Heads - 'Stop Making Sense' - 1984
Superb live album
9/10

Nightwish - Dark Passion Play - 2007
6.5/10. It's definitely not bad but it's also quite a bit from their best work. In this business it's all about being better and better.
