![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Benifit Leeches Will Bleed Us Dry For Years To Come IF you and your partner both work, support your children and make no demands on the State, then the stark truth is that you will have been taxed to the hilt and seen your household income fall substantially since 1997. By 2011/12, when the National Insurance increase and additional tax rises are introduced, the average family will be almost £1,500 worse off in real terms. In contrast an unemployed single parent – living on benefits – will be £2,491.63 better off. This damning piece of research from the Institute for Fiscal Studies perfectly illustrates the fractured Britain that Labour has created. This is now a country where those who believe in hard work and personal responsibility are punished while those who are content to leech off the welfare state are assured of a cushy life. It is not simply the manifest unfairness of this that enrages, it is the knowledge that the benefits culture has had the most pernicious effect. It is no longer the safety net that it was meant to be. It has now become the means whereby generations of feckless people – the Karen Matthews of this world and other scum – are allowed to lead lives of utter uselessness. Sanctioned by the State and paid for by the taxpayer, they are nothing more than parasites, their incomes assured by their ability to produce children, who in turn will become the welfare claimants of tomorrow. It is a revolting state of affairs and it is Labour’s legacy. Daily Express | Express Comment :: Benefit leeches will bleed |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Benifit Leeches Will Bleed Us Dry For Years To Come Ha ha James ....you little Tory you ![]() ![]() Welfare dependence is extremely destructive to individuals and society as a whole. The problem is so entrenched and inter-generational that it is no longer a simple matter of just cutting the benefit and making these people look for work -- as many of them are unemployable. The only way out is through education ....and to instill the virtues of work and effort. A welfare system is a necessity if we want to help the most vulnerable in society -- but far too many people now choose welfare dependency as a lifestyle -- not to mention the legion of social workers and counselors that now rely on the unemployed for their own jobs |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Benifit Leeches Will Bleed Us Dry For Years To Come Obviously everyone on benefits isn't just a lazy heap, some people are not able to work due to there condition but others like I said who just sit at home doing absolutely nothing claiming because they can are what the article is on about. Also going back to what you said about how people rely onthese people for work and having no education, people could use there teacher skills to help them get qualifications to have that support to get jobs. Btw I'm not aggainst benefits my point is the people who do absolutly nothing and claim (you need to visit England, you see many people like that) |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Find a job or your benefits will stop WELFARE claimants will be forced to work or prepare for a job if they are to carry on receiving state handouts. Only those seriously ill or disabled will be exempt from new work-or-else rules. Reforms are also proposed for housing benefit to prevent claimants living in large houses at the taxpayer’s expense. Work and Pensions Secretary James Purnell is due to set out his plans in a white paper this week. The measures are in line with policies first put forward by the Tories earlier this year. But Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Chris Grayling said he would wait to see if Labour has the courage and ability to deliver. “There is no doubt that Britain needs radical welfare reform to end our entitlement culture,” he said. “We’ll be delighted if, after years and years of false promises, this Government finally means business. “But we do have doubts about some of the detail particularly given the Government’s record of making grand announcements that just aren’t followed through.” Mr Purnell warned yesterday that claimants would have to take up a “reasonable job offer” or there would be “sanctions”. He was adopting a “tough love approach” and added that claimants who refused to take up an offer could lose benefits – or they would be required to carry out full-time work such as community service. Single mothers of children as young as one will be compelled to go on training courses and work experience or face a cut in payments while incapacity benefit claimants will have to undergo medical tests. Companies will be allowed to bid for contracts to place the long-term unemployed in work. Labour has previously made little progress on its promise to cut by a million the numbers on incapacity benefits – which cost the taxpayer around £13billion a year. Mr Purnell said: “We don’t think it is appropriate to make you take work at this stage, but you should be preparing for work.” But sheer lack of jobs for anyone who does not already have one is likely to be a stumbling block. In November the business group CBI warned unemployment could peak at close to 2.9 million by 2010, from 1.8 million at present. The British Chambers of Commerce have also said that unemployment could reach about 3 million as the recession bites seriously. But Mr Purnell would not be drawn on how high UK unemployment could go next year, insisting that “governments never do that”. Daily Express | UK News :: Find a job or your benefits will stop |
