Rules:

• The submitted picture must have been taken by the submitter.
• Only one photograph per person and per week is permitted.
• The submitted photograph may not be changed once it has been entered.
• There are 5 days to submit your photograph, a poll will be created after five days for people to vote on. (Voting from Friday morning to Monday morning, then a new thread will be created Monday morning for entry)
• Your image must be a resolution of 1024*768 or lower. If it is not, your picture will not be in the voting thread.
• In the interest of fairness, entrants may not vote for their own photograph.
• The photograph should be submitted with: A Title, the date, and the type of camera.
• Photoshop and other image editing softwares: Levels, Curves, Colour Balance, Brightness/Contrast, Hue/Saturation, cropping, or anything else possible in the development process or with filters and common special lenses is permitted . Other adjustments and effects (Color Selective - pending) are not permitted

Ree, that's quite an interesting shot you have there... I've spent the better part of 5 minutes trying to figure out what the heck you've captured in such an abstract way.
Is it a dinner table chair.. or a vent of some sort...I'm perplexed. So I guess that means you did a successful job of creating an illusion from an everyday item.

Here's mine for the week... something I normally don't do; taking photos of people.

Many thanks - well you're not completely right. It's a Philips Livingcolours lamp. Photographed the upper area of the lamp with a part of the "inside"…

Damn! ...and you were able to take a detailed shot eventhough you got in so close and tight! Impressive!


I was just thinking (I know this has kinda been discussed before)...but since nowadays there seem to be only 2-4 entries per week in the General Photo Comps, maybe for the fun of it (and to make it a tad more fun and challenging for those who do enter week after week)...we could have a theme for each week or every 2nd week. I don't think the arguement that it will deter some members from posting their photos because they haven't got anything in that theme, because we barely have many photos anyway.

I just think for the likes of you and I and others who enter every week, it could make it a bit more fun...or even have something more interesting like: list 2 or 3 objects, and you have to take a photo of at least 2 of those objects. You have 2 weeks to complete this task and post the photos in the comp (so the comp would be every 2 weeks)....and then we can see the different interpretations and skills that each photographer has used to take photos of fairly common objects.

Just an idea...and I know it would probably have to go through Mark (admin) first...but it's just something to try and 'jazz up' these photo comps. ... I think the Automotive Comp in GCF is doing fine since it's a common theme each week...maybe a more fun and challenging approach over here would make it more interesting.

Interesting idea…quite like it!! Would be definitely very interesting to see the results. Is there a theme in the automotive comps?! Didn't know that.
