If you dont mind Rob, I'd like to see the evidence that "most" climatoligists don't believe CO2 emissions are affecting the global climate.

Now, I am no expert by any means, but I would think that even a 2 year old could figure out that this stuff certainly doesn't help the global climate...

They didn't increase drastically though. The worst, so called, greenhouse gas, by far, is water vapour (clouds).

Not funny really. Western Europe's governments have become less and less relevant on the international stage, the EU (European parliament in Brussels) makes all the decisions and is committed to global warming (Kyoto protocol) and carbon credits.
He's not?

In the case you didn't know: Earth is not flat either.
And it's the Earth that rotates around the Sun, and not vice versa.

And I'm sure there are people - even "scientists" who would disagree with that as well.

I'm just waiting for someone to come out with a "brilliant" idea: that it is the Sun that causes global warming, and should be nuked for that reason.

Sorry, Rob - I just had to do it.

I didn't say they don't believe CO2 emissions are affecting the global climate, I said they are not fixed to the idea that CO2 is causing it. No scientist worth his salt would commit himself/herself to a theory without having all the facts and evidence first. Good science is never a matter of opinion -- it should always be based on factual evidence -- and that is what is badly lacking in this whole debate. The politicians and environmentalists all jumped on this bandwagon and now if you question it, you are made to feel like a Holocaust denier.

There is absolutely no doubt that such pollution is very damaging to our environment, but the effect it has on the global climate is still not certain. We must be very careful not to fall into the politicized trap of just going along with the crowd -- especially when several eminent scientists still question the whole issue.

It seems to me that many of the same people who are usually so cynical about Capitalism, big business, and the Bush administration, are absolutely prepared to accept industrial causes for climate change without any debate or concern over the myriad of contentious issues it raises.

fair enough, I'll agree with that.

Yeah but one could say the exact same for the other side. Anyone who is all gung-ho for capitalism, big business, and conservatives, are absolutley prepared to deny industrial causes for climate change without any debate or concern over the myriad of contentious issues it raises.

Re: Global warming ...

So, in any case it would be good to reduce CO2 and other gas emissions, and reduce polluting the planet. I think everybody knows pollution is a bad not a good thing. And something have to be done - even if lower profits are the price for it.

Have you ever asked yourselves how much wast you produce per year (including gas emissions caused by your cars)? And how much of that waste can be recycled, and how many is dropped to garbage dump causing pollution?

It was said many times: we only have one planet, and we have to preserve it.

Some things can be ruined very quickly, but it then takes several years / decades / centuries to repair the demage - or some of it is even permanent.

That's why I'm so angry about that "global warming" issue: it is completely skewed. Look how far have we come: we need factual scientific evidences to start to believe we are polluting the planet too excessively.

And IMO it's not "bad scientists" who are the "bad guys" in this matter, but all the capitalistic interests (of some huge corporations) are the real "bad guys". And we - individual human beings for being selfish, ignorant & vain (we have become Homo Consumicus / Homo Polluticus).

Re: Global warming ...

Well down under (Australia), where all after some rain as we have not had significant rain fall for over 4 years i believe... Today looking out th window at work I noticed omonious rain clouds that adventuated into little or no rain... It is nearly winter and yet we are still having 26 degree C daily temperatures... I personally did science/medicine at university for 6 years and I in no way or means portray myself as a expert in the field.. but one thing I have always considered is that perhaps this is all just a natural occurence for the earth... We go through a stable climate for centuries then we go through 'global warming' which is the catalyst for an ice age... Perhaps it is just a never ending cycle designed to renew the Earth's climate???

I'm not sure what the rest of your take on this is but something certainly isn't clicking in the clockwork when I treated a patient for heat stroke in winter???

I read on a newspaper that in the near future vast areas of Greeces coast lines will be submerged by sea because of the melting of the ice in the north pole.
I live 50m from the sea on the 5th floor of an apartment building. So in 50 years time i will have my own private island
