Re: Paris Hilton

Normally, I would say that Mika was being very unprofessional, but let's face the fact that journalism has been dragged into the toilet. As a journalist, she has a right to speak out against the insanity.

News isn't really news. In the '80s and '90s, the networks discovered how profitable news was! All the shows they were producing were sh*t and the salaries of TV actors kept soaring. The newscasts and news shows produced so much profit that the networks couldn't refuse "sexing up" the news.

The opposite is also true, Rob. A lot of people who despise her don't know her. Then again, many of those who defend her through thick and thin don't know her either.

I have a question. Can TV viewers really turn off Paris? Or has the media become so influential that it won't let people watch something else? Sure, anyone can switch off the TV, but as long as they have their TV on or their internet browser open, the media makes sure they see Paris.

.....what about those psychologists deconstructing and analyzing Hilton's interview with Larry King ....has America lost all sense.

Somebody should remind them there's a war going on.

Well that is fairly true ...and it just reinforces my point that we can't really blame Paris herself for this frenzy ......she is just a clueless girl who loves the attention -- she seems to be virtually oblivious to the way the Media are exploiting and mocking her.

It is very easy to find faults with Paris Hilton, there is so much about her which incites derision and resentfulness in people -- but I really don't think people should get so angry with her, as I said before, it is the Media that invented Paris Hilton, traced her every move, and force-fed us with the mind-numbing chronicles of her banal existence for the past couple of years.

Yes, they most certainly should. But as per usual - people have short memories.

BTW, while I do not think think highly of Paris by anymeans - I somewhat agree with you when you said Mika Brzezinski was "grand standing". That whole segment seemed like contrived BS.

Re: Paris Hilton

I don't really think celebs (A, B, C, D-list) know or care too much about the media mocking them. William Hung milked his twisted fame for all it was worth. The media mocked him and I doubt he really cared. I saw him in some interviews with the Hong Kong media. He gave me the impression that he really thought he was a star in Asia! Inexplicable.

Also, celebrity images can change so easily. Paris can probably go from being portrayed as a moron to a shrewd woman to a caring, Mother Teresa-esque figure within a few weeks! I won't mention the bloke by name, but there is a footballer, who in a relative short span of time, has seen his media persona go from metrosexual footballer to red-carded bad boy to assistant-shagging philanderer to penalty-kick shanking goat to teary-eyed has-been. His image changes, mediocre skill and meagre career achievements don't hurt his marketability.

I didn't watch the Larry King interview, but I bet it will be re-aired soon. I will try not to watch it because my neck and shoulder hurts from seeing Larry's posture.

Sadly, I truly think William Hung thought he was talented.

I mean Donatella actually thinks she is sexy .....try figuring that one out.

I don't know what she is seeing in the mirror but Sheeeesshhh.
