Hmmm...Niagara Falls is cool for about 30 seconds. Sure, the falls are neat, but you can only stand there for so long in the mist. They have a couple of casinos, now, if you're interested. And, they have no shortage of cheesy museums (Guinness Book of World Records, Ripley's Believe It Or Not, etc)...

Check it out to say you've been there, but I wouldn't stay long.

I grew up in Cambridge, which is about an hour away from the Falls. I lived in Toronto for about 8 years, until I moved to Ottawa, last year. My advice? Keep driving to Toronto. It's only another hour & a half. It's a city of nearly 3 million folks, so, it has a lot to offer.

If you're thinking of making the trek, let me know...I'll see if I can point you in the right direction, when you get there.

And, if you can rope the wife into it, Champ Car's Grand Prix of Toronto is that weekend.

True. Although, the Ontario Provincial Police are tricky bastards with Lidar tripods. There are a couple of spots of which he'll need to be weary.

Re: Going to Canada. Need Advice from my fellow Canadians!!!

You can definitely check out Niagara on the Lake. There should be some good scenic routes there. If you are into wine, there are quite a few winery there. Definitely recommend you have a meal at the Hillebrand Estates.

I haven't been to Niagara Falls in a long while, but, the casinos I heard are booming with a lot of things to see and do (not necessarily gambling).

Do watch out for the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police), they are very watchful w/ speeders these days.

If you are planning to check out Toronto as well, it's not a far drive. Place to visit is probably CN Tower in Downtown, There's actually a brewery (Steam Whistle) near CN Tower that I was told is very interesting.
Then you have Bloor Street a little north of there. Yorkville is one of the tourist attraction here (lots of nice shops, boutiques, restaurants...etc).

Art Gallery of Ontario, Royal Ontario Museum are all under renovation but still open for visits.

Other places like the Distillery district may be of interest to you as well.

If you are interested in more details for things to do in Toronto, check out ShowMeToronto.com – Guide to Toronto Hotels, Toronto Tourism, and all Toronto Canada has to offer...

Hope this helps.

Re: Going to Canada. Need Advice from my fellow Canadians!!!

Hi Alx. Toronto is a pretty decent city to visit. I live just outside Toronto. I only lived in Toronto, actually Scarborough, for a short time in the 1980s. Today, I work primarily in Toronto.

The new casino near the Falls is called Fallsview. There is also a new golf course and I played it earlier in the season. As Habitual Speeder pointed out, the Falls cease to be cool after 30 seconds.

If you are going into Toronto, there are a few roads that you can drive on (safely) to test your Aston. The 407 ETR is a toll road and you will be billed for using it, but there are fewer cars . . . wink, wink. The best stretch of road in Toronto is probably Rosedale Valley. It is below the Bloor Street Viaduct, which unfortunately was a suicide hot spot.

I don't know if you are a movie fan or not, but there is a Victorian town that appears in many Hollywood movies. Kev mentioned it already. It is actually the old Gooderham & Worts Distillery in Downtown Toronto. I would recommend visiting it. There are many art galleries, cafes and restaurant in there. It is quite nice in the evening.

If you have small children, you can take them to the indoor amusement park at Woodbine Centre - Welcome. Casa Loma is another nice attraction.

Re: Going to Canada. Need Advice from my fellow Canadians!!!

You guys have been INCREDIBLY helpful, i have taken notes and printed info on all those spots mentioned, i myself wanted to drive around Canada but my fiance wants to start at Niagara Falls. Has family there. So we will travel from there on a daily basis. No time rush, so hopefully we will capture all the places mentioned around Toronto. If you do have children, you may also want to check out Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan (about 30 - 45 min drive), while you are near there, Vaughan Mills is the biggest shopping centre in Ontario.

If you like to roam within downtown, you can also check out Ontario Place if you have kids.

Here's a complete wine route tour guide:
Wineries of Niagara on the Lake
I may have mixed up the restaurant of Hillebrand and Inniskillin. I know I went to one of them, it was a courtyard cafe.
