Yeah it a little noisy, not too bad though, the sound of the games usually drowns it out, sucks during movies though. I usually only use it during long gaming sessions, dont use it when watchin movies anymore or quick game sessions.

But hey, my 360 hasnt died yet so oh well.

Re: My XBox 360 is dead...Red Lights of Death!

I had my 360 since last January. Production date was 15 Dec. 2005 so it was one of the first to come out of the production line. I had heard that the earlier ones were more like to have faults than the later ones.

You're is experiencing heating problems. My family's PC was freezing frequently a couple of years ago and apparently the cabinet was badly cooled. All 360 are prone to experiencing heating problems. Try keeping it in a cool and non enclosed spaced.

Re: My XBox 360 is dead...Red Lights of Death!

I don't think that it had overheating problems. I never play more than one-two hours everyday and the space around it was free of obstacles. I believe that it is due to bad production/ quality control. Many of the early production 360s died sooner or later.

Oh yeah, you got one of the early ones too. If you're lucky you might get an elite as a replacement.

It's more of a design flaw. It seems the chips (CPU, GPU, or memory) seperate from the main board after constant heating and cooling. Hopefully now they have solved the problem...

Here's a revised board (from the Elite):

Re: My XBox 360 is dead...Red Lights of Death!

Man...I feel you guys! It sucks when such a good gaming machine dies because some people didn't do their research properly...all speculation of course..LOL

Either way, Bum-man - I don't know how much that revision has helped the Elite because videos and stories of the elite Red-lighting out of existance have already surfaced.

I would say any Elite dying at this time has more to do with quality control than design flaw, since the problem that I mentioned takes time. So I guess time will indeed tell whether they've fixed the main problem...
