Dude you guys are not going to believe me (well you probably will since we're all on Da IntErneTz)....

My freakin 360 died on me Friday night. I was pissed. I tried calling Microsoft Customer support but they were closed. I got busy on Saturday so I couldn't call. I finally called them yesterday (sunday) and reached their call center in India (I think). It was funny because I've heard so many bad things about their call centers but the guy I talked to was perfect cool. I didn't have a problem with him exact for when I was spelling out my name..that was the only issue.

Since I bought my system less than a year ago this they would cover the cost of repairs under warranty...YAY! Now I just have to send my system to them and hopfully they send me a good one back. You guys have no idea how pissed I was when it happened...I was just about to have an online session of Gear of War!!! My plan was to play the 360 for a few hours and then jump onto my PS3 later on for some Resistance action online, but I had to change my plans so I played my PS3 for the rest of the night. I played VF5 and then Resistance. Now I'm just hoping that the call center guys have everything of mine correct so they don't end up sending my fixed 360 to someone elses adress.

Anyways, I know some of you guys have a 360 on this board...any problems with yours???

Damn!! Well honestly I'm glad that my died when it did because another month and I would be out warranty. I've had that thing for almost a year and it was flawless and finally a month before my warranty runs out...it pooped on me.

So what happened with yours? Did you send it in?

wow sorry to hear this thats not fun. Hope it all gets resolved quickly and you can get back to your gaming. I dont have any game systems because i dont have time and I suck at games.

Yeah, I'm not a hardcore gamer but I do like to enjoy some gaming sessions on the weekends. I'm working fulltime and at school during the week so I party and play videogames on the weekends...thats my way of relaxing. Plus, I use my PS3 as my high-def movie player which is awesome!!!

Well, ever since one of the major updates (fall update I think) mine used to freeze fairly consistanly on certain games mostly Gears, Vegas, and then Crackdown. Then a few weeks ago I unplugged it to move it rehooked it back up and I got the general hardware failure and three lights. Called Microsoft a few days later knowing that my unit was out of warranty by a few months. Went through the troubleshooting with that disturbingly happy automated guy. Then finally got through to some Indian dude that I could halfway understand. Anyways, they wanted $140 to fix it I told him no I wouldn't pay that he put me on hold for another 15 minutes so he could "speak with his supervisor," then got back on and said they could take 50% off and include shipping. I told him no again then a long exchanging of words to finally me hanging up with a confermation code of some sort if I ever want to take the deal.

In the end I lucked out with my roomate working at a certain game store. He said he would be able to exchange mine with a used one, so I did that after the phonecall. Though, unfortunatly I'm still stuck with another early model 360. I would recommend you try and get one of the Microsoft extended warranties if you still can since everyone I know has had their 360 go belly up on them.

Man, I can just smell a class action lawsuit coming their way...

microsoft aren't known for their reliability, mine crashed a few times when playing various games, just like when i was using windows systems, de javu?

Exact same problem as me. Moved it, plugged it in and got 3 red lights. Before that my games would freeze a lot. Luckily it died like a month before the warranty out. I got the Xbox the same day it came out so it was definitely one of the earlier ones.

Damn...sucks to hear about yours bum-man. Man I lucked out because 1 more month and I would've had to pay that ridiculous amounts of money to get it fixed...even then whats the guarantee that it will work?

Anyways, here is my system with the red lights of death, my PS3 sitting smugly next to it...LOL

Interesting to see the 360 crash so much. I am sure that this is not the first and there are many more out there with this problem. You lucked out with the cost of repair. Oh and by the way don't worry if it comes back messed up, they have to warrant that repair for at least 90 days--at least sony did that. Well, enjoy the PS3.
